​Applications are open for In the Margins of the Frame, a queer-focused research residency delivered in partnership with BACKLIT and the British Film Institute (BFI).

This opportunity invites an early-career curator, archivist or researcher to explore connections between digital screen heritage and grassroots archives using BFI REPLAY and BACKLIT’s Alfred House archive.


What’s included:

  • £2,000 residency fee (10 research days)

  • £1,700 production budget & travel support

  • Research visits and a public learning outcome

Changemaker Lens is the storytelling strand of the St James’s Youth Changemaker Programme. It invites young people (18-30) from the UK, US, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and South Africa to tell the truth of their lived experience through photography, film, art and creative expression. Launching in London in May 2026, it forms the heart of an emerging global ecosystem of youth leadership. It is not a finished exhibition. It is an invitation to enter a shared human story.

The mission of the British Mycological Society is to promote fungal science and we recognise that art, in all its forms, provides a powerful route through which we can attract new audiences, provoke discussion and stimulate interest in mycology.

 

The Massee Arts Grant provides an annual fund of £10,000 to support individual projects up to a maximum of £5,000 each. Artists from all disciplines who can help us encourage all sectors of society to engage with and learn about the world of fungi are eligible to apply, and funded projects will be showcased as part of the BMS’s flagship outreach event, UK Fungus Day, which takes place each October.
